Speech from Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Egypt for the Khilafah Conference in Jakarta

[Speech of the Engineer Sharif Zayed, Head of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in the Wilayah Egypt in the Global Khilafah Conference in Jakarta on
Sunday, 23 Rajab 1434 AH corresponding to 02 June 2013]

(Translated)
The Real Change is a Revolution for the Sake of the Khilafah

The revolution in Egypt was a start of good (khair) after the Tunisian revolution since it assured that the movement of the Ummah in Tunisia was not isolated from its surroundings, but it was a revolution in line with the rest of the Muslim lands. And there is no sense in replicating the tyrant of Egypt and his thugs by saying that Egypt is different from Tunisia or to say to the buried Gaddafi that Libya is different from Tunisia or Egypt.

However, did the anger of the Egyptian revolutionaries achieve anything of what they aspired to? Did the regime change? Or was it simply a change of faces?

The era of the tyrant Mubarak ended in the same way it ended for his friend Ben Ali in Tunisia, elections took place, and those carrying the slogan of "Islam is the Solution" ascended into power, and the rebelling people focused their hopes on them, because they love Islam and want to see it implemented in their reality. But did they materialize anything of their raised slogans? Is their implemented Islam any different than how the ousted used to claim to implement Islam?

The hope of today's scattered Ummah to become united once again under the shade of the Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood pleases the inhabitants of the heavens and earth. This great desire that needs to stir for the sake of the Ummah today is what will truly liberate it from subordination and humiliation to the Kafir western nations, who hijacked these blessed revolutions and diverted them as they wanted, far from Islam that was supposed to direct the moving masses longing for change, ridding the regimes in the Muslim world from the dependency on America and the Kafir west. We can say that the Ummah came to realize that the overthrow of tyrants without the removal of their regimes makes the revolutions in vain. What is the lesson behind  the overthrow of those traitor agents without the overthrow of their regimes that still form the backbone of the colonial Kafir, the source of the plague  and the transmitter of the disease from which the Ummah suffers since the fall of its state and its real system embodied in the Khilafah?

Perhaps in the slogan "The Revolution Continues" raised by some in Egypt we can find consolation, as this slogan assures that amongst the Ummah there are those who realize the revolution must persist, since it has not achieved what it set out for initially. There is a matter that has to be understood by anyone who seeks a real exit from the sufferings of the Ummah, be it disunity, fragmentation, disorientation or looting of its resources and wealth, that is to realize the deep impact of the dominance of misleading western culture on the minds of people in our lands plagued by colonialism since the mid-19th century. The colonial states have dominated our lands and shared amongst each other the influence, with England holding the lion's share, followed by France. Those are the two countries that tore the lands apart in the degrading Sykes-Picot Treaty.

In the shade of the nightmare of the misleading western culture the conception of a nation within national boundaries, that separates it from its Ummah, as well as the secular constitution and the divisive flag are entrenched. Thereby the generations are imprinted with the conception of nationalism and national unity, as well as loyalty to the nation state, its constitution and its national flag.

The leaderships that took over the bridle of affairs amidst the Arab Spring focus on these decadent concepts and as if we were turning in circles, the slogans of "Unity" and "Abolition of Boundaries" and other slogans connected to the Aqeedah of the Ummah, its culture and its history have disappeared from the scene.  All of this to an extent that these new leaderships allowed murderous Iranian ships to pass the Suez Canal, aiding the tyrant of al-Sham in killing even more of the sons of this Ummah in Syria. This under the same pretext of the former regime: "It is not Egypt's right to forbid any ship from passing through the Suez Canal, unless it belongs to a state that has declared war upon Egypt." The regime after the revolution does not see the enmity against the Muslims as an enmity against Egypt!! What is wrong with you?! By what measures do you judge?!

Under the nightmare of the misguided western culture, alien concepts were imprinted amongst our Ummah, and perhaps the term "civil state" that is being echoed by many is the most dangerous of these western concepts for the civilization and culture of this Ummah. Was the revolution and were the sacrifices of the people for the sake of a secular civil state?! Did we actually revolt to oust these tyrants to then be ruled by other tyrants dressed in the civil cloak, devoted to secularism and democracy but appearing under the new label of "the civil state"?! Do those, raising such slogans, really think that they will be able to deceive the Ummah if they whitewash this term with their claim of the desired civil state being one of "Islamic Reference"?!

During the "marches of rage" emerged clearly the slogans called for by movements which are known to be Islamic, such as the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafis in Egypt, and the Islamic an-Nahda movement in Tunisia and other countries. The banner of "Islam is the Solution" was raised in these countries and other slogans were raised, that place weight on a change based on Islam, such as: "We Don't Bow to Other Than Allah", "If You Give Victory to Allah, Allah Will Grant You Victory" and "It Is For Allah, It Is For Allah".

The question now is: Where are those movements with Islamic reference that emerged through the votes of the electors, when it comes to Islam as the creed of the Ummah, through which people expect salvation?

The Republican system has become acceptable, just like monarchy,  and the civil state has become one of their accepted terms, they have started calling for pluralism and democracy and they say: "Islamic Democracy" as if in order for Islam to be acceptable it has to be dressed in this western cloak that is alien to it. All of this to satisfy the Kafir west. Are they really unaware, that it the same west, that dragged upon us all the calamities and horrors, and it is the cause of our underdevelopment, and it is them who tore apart our Ummah, removed its prestige and occupied our lands and established the primary enemy of the Ummah, the Zionist entity on the blessed spot that is from the holiest of our lands?!

The change the Ummah is longing for needs to be radical, restoring its leadership position amongst the nations, and we see severed limbs, extreme retardation, deprived of all manifestations of pride and dignity. It is a radical change which will encompass the whole of the contemporary world: east and west, north and south.

Today the whole world is witness to corruption in all of man's affairs, Allah the Almighty said:

((ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ))
"Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]." [TMQ 30:41]

Islam had removed this corruption from the land and seas through the mission of the beloved Prophet and it is capable of removing the current corruption, dominating the world through the Ummah of goodness, the Muslim Ummah that is indeed the best Ummah extracted for mankind.

We are compelled, if we want real change, to radically change the poisoned ideas planted by our colonial enemy, replacing them with original Islamic ideas and make them dominate the public opinion in society. This is what will bring about true change, causing us to rejoice and granting us a dignified and distinguished life. This will happen through fighting the west and its concepts and becoming aware of our Islamic ideas in their correct image. This mission of change cannot be carried out by someone whose words and actions still bear clear evidence to his misleading western education.

Therefore the talk of a republican system in these lands is meaningless, as the Ummah has its own distinctive system, the Khilafah.

There is no meaning to the talk of the nation state and nationalism or the raising of a flag produced by the ill-fated "Sykes-Picot" treaty. The Ummah has its creed as alliance that elevates from the ground and untouched by dust and it has its distinctive flag and banner of the Messenger of Allah (saw). There is no meaning to the term of "democracy", "civil state" and the "liberal Islamic alliance". Because Islam is supreme and nothing is supreme to it. There is no sense in respecting the agreements of humiliation and the peace treaties, only the governance by the Shari'ah has to be respected and bindingly followed. Legislation belongs to Allah alone.

The coming days promise total goodness for this precious Ummah. The "strangers of the Ummah", who were systematically ignored and obscured by the regimes and their media, will soon see the end of their strangeness, when they straighten the issue and to their Deen and their state, the Islamic Khilafah will belong the decisive word in all of the world's matters. Then there will be no strangeness for these men, for they and their Ummah will own the supreme word and the upper hand. Their great Deen will reign over all systems, including the capitalist system, which did not come from Allah or His sovereignty:
((وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِنَصْرِ اللَّهِ))
"And that day the believers will rejoice; In the victory of Allah." [TMQ 30:4]

An advice to Muslims working in the financial sector

Assalam wa alaikum wa rahmatullah wabarakatahu, Dear Brothers & Sisters, We are saddened to see Muslims today even those who practise many of the rules of Islam are working in jobs which involve haram in the financial sector. They are working in positions which involve usurious (Riba) transactions, insurance, the stock market and the like. Even though many of the clear evidences regarding the severity of the sin of Riba are known, some have justified their job to themselves thinking that they are safe as long as they are not engaged in the actual action of taking or giving Riba. Brothers & Sisters, You should know that the majority of jobs in the financial sector, even the IT jobs in this area are haram (prohibited) as they involve the processing of prohibited contracts. If you work in this sector, do not justify your job to yourself because of the fear of losing your position or having to change your career, fear Allah as he should be feared and consider His law regard

Q&A: Age of separating children in the beds?

Question: Please explain the hukm regarding separation of children in their beds. At what age is separation an obligation upon the parents? Also can a parent sleep in the same bed as their child? Answer: 1- With regards to separating children in their beds, it is clear that the separation which is obligatory is when they reach the age of 7 and not since their birth. This is due to the hadith reported by Daarqutni and al-Hakim from the Messenger (saw) who said: When your children reach the age of 7 then separate their beds and when they reach 10 beat them if they do not pray their salah.’ This is also due to what has been narrated by al-Bazzar on the authority of Abi Rafi’ with the following wording: ‘We found in a sheet near the Messenger of Allah (saw) when he died on which the following was written: Separate the beds of the slave boys and girls and brothers and sisters of 7 years of age.’ The two hadiths are texts on the separation of children when they reach the age of 7. As for the

Q&A: Shari' rule on songs, music, singing & instruments?

The following is a draft translation from the book مسائل فقهية مختارة (Selected fiqhi [jurprudential] issues) by the Mujtahid, Sheikh Abu Iyas Mahmoud Abdul Latif al-Uweida (May Allah protect him) . Please refer to the original Arabic for exact meanings. Question: What is the Shari’ ruling in singing or listening to songs?  What is the hukm of using musical instruments and is its trade allowed? I request you to answer in detail with the evidences? Answer: The Imams ( Mujtahids ) and the jurists have differed on the issue of singing and they have varying opinions such as haraam (prohibited), Makruh (disliked) and Mubah (permissible), the ones who have prohibited it are from the ones who hold the opinion of prohibition of singing as a trade or profession, and a similar opinion has been transmitted from Imam Shafi’i, and from the ones who disliked it is Ahmad Ibn Hanbal who disliked the issue and categorised its performance under disliked acts, a similar opinion has been tran
