Speech from Sheikh Hassan Al Janayni for the Khilafah Conference in Jakarta

[Speech of Sheikh Hassan Al Janayni at the Global Khilafah Conference in Jakarta, which was held on Sunday, 23 Rajab 1434 AH, corresponding to 02 June 2013]

(Translated)

All praise be to the Lord of the worlds and peace and blessings be upon the one sent as a mercy for mankind, our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all of his companions.

Asalamu alaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are pleased and may Allah grant you a good path and an abode in Jannah. I ask Allah Almighty; just as He gathered us here in the dunya, that He may us gather under the shade of the Khilafah Rashida upon the method of the Prophethood and in the Hereafter in the abode of mercy.

"Oh you who believe answer the call of Allah and the messenger to that which gives you life and know that Allah comes between man and his heart and to Allah you will return."

Allah has sent the Messenger (saw) to remove people from the darkness into the light. He (saw) guided us to all that is good and warned us from all that is evil and gave us an eternal advice in his saying:

أوصيكم بتقوى الله عز وجل والسمع والطاعة وإن تأمر عليكم عبد فإنه من يعش منكم فسيرى اختلافا كثيرا، فعليكم بسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين من بعدي، تمسكوا بها وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ، وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور فإن كل بدعة ضلالة
"I advise you to fear Allah (Azza wa Jal) and to hear and obey even if a slave ruled over you. The one who will live will witness many disagreements. So hold on to the sunnah (way) of the guided Khulafaa ar-Rashideen hold tightly onto it and ‘bite onto it' and beware of innovation in matters as every (bid'a) innovation is a dhalala(misguidance)." [Narrated by Ahmad, Ashab As-Sunan, corrected by Tirmizi, Al Hakim, Al Zahabi].

Huthaifah (ra) said,
"Allah (ta'ala) sent Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wassalam and he called people from misguidance to guidance and from Kufr to Iman, some accepted. The ones who were dead became alive by the Haqq (truth) and the one who was alive following batil (falsehood) was dead. Then the Prophethood's time passed and the Khilafah followed upon its method. Then the biting monarchy follows. From amongst the people there will be those who will reject it by the heart, the hand and the tongue, those have responded to the Haqq. And from amongst the people there are those who will reject it by the heart and tongue and not by the hand, those have abandoned part of the Haqq. And from amongst the people are those who will reject it by the heart alone and not by the hand, nor the tongue, those have abandoned two parts of the Haqq. And from amongst the people there are those who do not reject it, not by the heart, nor the hand nor the tongue, are those the living dead!"

I lived for many years and travelled extensively and met with Ulema throughout many countries searching for the right path and for the answer that leads to my happiness in the dunya and the Akhirah. I did not find that which quenches my thirst and lights my path.

But Allah Azza wa Jal willed for me to watch and listen to the program presented by Hizb ut Tahrir "Then it will be Khilafah". On that day I realized that any success and victory will only be achieved following this path which was shown to us by our Prophet (saw). So I rushed to them, to meet them. On that day I realized that Allah Azza wa jal has blessed me with two births, the first by my mother and the second is when Allah Azza wa jal bestowed upon me the honour of working with Hizb ut Tahrir to restore the Khilafah Rashida upon the method of the Prophethood.

This is my message to the Islamic Ummah, to those who lost the way to those who are confused to those who despaired, to the oppressed, I say to them this is the way.

And to the Ulema I say: Call to that which you were ordered to do by the Messenger of Allah so that this Ummah regains its pride and honour.

To the rulers of the Muslims I say: You have no excuse before Allah on the Day of Judgment, the day when He will ask you why did you not implement the Shar'i (Laws) of Allah?

"O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous, * Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you? * In whatever form He willed has He assembled you."
Who distracted you away from the Haqq to misguidance, and from light to darkness, and from the rule of Allah to the rule of taghoot?

So prepare an answer to the question, and develop the correct answer since the one who will question you is Allah. Did you not hear the saying of Allah (swt),

"But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission."

And finally I wish to say:

In our company we will give security to the fearful.
We will recite to the dunya the Qur'an of our Lord.
Deaf are the ears of the dunya if it does not listen.
O you dunya shout and witness that we do not seek guidance other than that of Muhammad (saw).
I come today to carry to you the glad tidings that was delivered by our beloved Prophet (saw) when He said

"ثم تكون خلافة على منهاج النبوة"
"And then there will be Khilafah upon the method of the Prophethood."

I can see its light and beam. Then, all the masks will fall, and the darkness will disperse and the sun of the Khilafah will shine upon the earth and covers all that is covered by the sun light, in spite of the will of the disbelievers.

"On that day the believers will rejoice by the victory of Allah He Grants victory to whomever He Wills He is Alaziz Alrahim."

An advice to Muslims working in the financial sector

Assalam wa alaikum wa rahmatullah wabarakatahu, Dear Brothers & Sisters, We are saddened to see Muslims today even those who practise many of the rules of Islam are working in jobs which involve haram in the financial sector. They are working in positions which involve usurious (Riba) transactions, insurance, the stock market and the like. Even though many of the clear evidences regarding the severity of the sin of Riba are known, some have justified their job to themselves thinking that they are safe as long as they are not engaged in the actual action of taking or giving Riba. Brothers & Sisters, You should know that the majority of jobs in the financial sector, even the IT jobs in this area are haram (prohibited) as they involve the processing of prohibited contracts. If you work in this sector, do not justify your job to yourself because of the fear of losing your position or having to change your career, fear Allah as he should be feared and consider His law regard

Q&A: Age of separating children in the beds?

Question: Please explain the hukm regarding separation of children in their beds. At what age is separation an obligation upon the parents? Also can a parent sleep in the same bed as their child? Answer: 1- With regards to separating children in their beds, it is clear that the separation which is obligatory is when they reach the age of 7 and not since their birth. This is due to the hadith reported by Daarqutni and al-Hakim from the Messenger (saw) who said: When your children reach the age of 7 then separate their beds and when they reach 10 beat them if they do not pray their salah.’ This is also due to what has been narrated by al-Bazzar on the authority of Abi Rafi’ with the following wording: ‘We found in a sheet near the Messenger of Allah (saw) when he died on which the following was written: Separate the beds of the slave boys and girls and brothers and sisters of 7 years of age.’ The two hadiths are texts on the separation of children when they reach the age of 7. As for the

Q&A: Shari' rule on songs, music, singing & instruments?

The following is a draft translation from the book (Selected fiqhi [jurprudential] issues) by the Mujtahid, Sheikh Abu Iyas Mahmoud Abdul Latif al-Uweida (May Allah protect him) . Please refer to the original Arabic for exact meanings. Question: What is the Shari’ ruling in singing or listening to songs?  What is the hukm of using musical instruments and is its trade allowed? I request you to answer in detail with the evidences? Answer: The Imams ( Mujtahids ) and the jurists have differed on the issue of singing and they have varying opinions such as haraam (prohibited), Makruh (disliked) and Mubah (permissible), the ones who have prohibited it are from the ones who hold the opinion of prohibition of singing as a trade or profession, and a similar opinion has been transmitted from Imam Shafi’i, and from the ones who disliked it is Ahmad Ibn Hanbal who disliked the issue and categorised its performance under disliked acts, a similar opinion has been tran
